The Municipality of Magnetawan is seeking applications for the position of Temporary Equipment Operator.

The Equipment Operator is responsible to operate various pieces of heavy equipment and to perform labour and maintenance duties as required. This position is responsible to the Public Works Superintendent.  Duties pertaining to this role are as follows: Operates various pieces of municipal road maintenance equipment such as graders, backhoes, front end loaders and plough/haul trucks, snow removal, sanding, culvert installation, gravel application, pavement patching, and other road maintenance work; Performs daily maintenance and checks on equipment and report any major repairs that may be required; Maintains a daily log for equipment used, recording fuel oil and parts used, the time required to complete individual assignments and completes daily timesheets; Hauls and places aggregate materials, gravel and cold mix, and patches roads; Perform labourer duties as assigned; Clears drainage ways when they are impeded by ice or debris; Observes and practices safety in the field; May be required to perform general maintenance duties at landfill sites; Develops a thorough working knowledge of the Municipality’s Safety Policy and Procedures Manual and applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.

The applicant must have a current Police Records Check, be familiar with equipment, must have own transportation with a valid “DZ” Ontario Driver’s License, and a clean current Driver’s Abstract. First AID/CPR and WHMIS would be considered an asset.
