Welcome to the website for the Municipality of Magnetawan.  We hope you will enjoy

exploring it and learning more about our gorgeous municipality, located in the heart of the Almaquin Highlands.

The Municipality of Magnetawan was incorporated in 2000 and includes the previous Village of Magnetawan, the Township of Chapman and the former Townships of Croft and Spence.

The Municipality has a number of all-season resorts and offers many unique dining experiences in and around Magnetawan and Ahmic Harbour.

The area offers a four season recreational experience with its numerous lakes and rivers, snowmobile trails, walking and hiking trails and excellent fishing, both winter and summer.  The area is steeped in history dating back to the 18th century when the early settlers arrived by steamboat from Burk’s Falls or along the old Nipissing Trail from Rosseau.  Explore some of this past by visiting the historic landmarks or travel the scenic roadways and enjoy the fall display of colours.

For the boat enthusiast, we offer a forty mile waterway from Burk’s Falls to the locks in Magnetawan, then on to Ahmic Harbour.  The adventure canoeist may experience a trip through the lakes and Magnetawan river system to Bying Inlet on Georgian Bay.
